DASHBALJIR BATTUR

Founder of “Grandmed” Hospital, Honored Builder of Mongolia, Hero of Labor of Mongolia

“Grandmed” Hospital was first opened in 2009 with 100% investment from “Jiguur Grand Group,” a leading company in Mongolia’s construction sector, and has continued operating without interruption for 16 years to this day. During this historic period, it has become a nationally and internationally recognized private hospital by providing citizens with excellent, high-quality, safe diagnostic, treatment, and healthcare services that meet international standards.

Among the notable achievements of “Grandmed” Hospital in Mongolia’s healthcare sector during this period are the following:

  • Since 2012, for the first time in Mongolia, it has introduced complex microsurgical procedures such as “lumbar disc replacement,” “spinal vertebral fracture fixation,” “vertebroplasty,” “spinal tumor removal,” and “cervical disc replacement,” and successfully localized a new surgical technology for treating “nerve root compression,” a condition that had previously been included on the list of diseases considered untreatable in Mongolia.
  • From 2016 to the present, for 9 consecutive years, it has continuously provided emergency abdominal surgery services covered by health insurance to residents of all khoroos in Khan-Uul District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
  • Since 2018, it has become the 4th country in the world to successfully introduce and localize a new spinal endoscopic surgery, and since 2020, the 2nd country in the world to successfully introduce and localize cervical endoscopic surgery, gaining international recognition. To date, more than 9,000 spinal microsurgeries have been successfully performed for Mongolian citizens as well as international patients. As a result, it has begun receiving invitations as an “Instructor” at international academic conferences on spinal endoscopic surgery in highly developed countries such as the United States, South Korea, India, Japan, and Taiwan, delivering lectures and leading hands-on training. “Grandmed Hospital” is recognized as a world leader in spinal and spinal cord microsurgery.
  • In 2024, for the first time from Mongolia, Dr. Baban Nurbek from the spine surgery team of “Grandmed” Hospital was selected and accredited by the World Endoscopic Spine Surgery Association as an outstanding international “Instructor.”
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, across Ulaanbaatar, alongside the State Second Central Hospital, “Grandmed” Hospital was the only private hospital to provide 24-hour emergency surgical care promptly, safely, and in accordance with standards, successfully performing surgical treatment for more than 2,300 citizens. It carried a heavy burden during the lockdown period and honorably fulfilled its duty to the country. It was a proud achievement that our hospital team strictly adhered to infection prevention protocols against coronavirus, and worked with energy, unity, and leadership. Going forward, “Grandmed” Hospital is working with a clearly defined future development direction and the goal of establishing an “INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR SPINE AND SPINAL SURGERY” that meets international standards.
